Huawei Presents B5328 4 X 4 MIMO LTE Router

Around the end of 2016, Huawei offers the world's first commercial LTE router B5328 with 4 × 4 MIMO antenna technology. The B5328 LTE Router offers significantly higher data rates in a correspondingly equipped network than devices with 2 × 2 MIMO antenna technology. The Huawei B5328 is the successor to the popular Huawei E5186 LTE Router. In the free trade, the Huawei B5328 is currently not available; however, interested network operators and service providers can order the device on request and thus make available to their customers.

Based on the GCT’s GDM7243Q, the only LTE-A chip commercially available that offers 4x4 MIMO capability, enables Huawei B5328 LTE CPE with higher data rates and throughput while using limited bandwidth (“double speed” with the same limited bandwidth), which is a scarce commodity for network operators.

By integrating the receiver with four antennas and equipping the base station with four transmitters, mobile operators can maximize the use of their spectrum. Huawei B5328 is the successor to Huawei E5186 4G LTE Router. With GDM7243Q chipset, Huawei B5328 cpedelivers LTE Category 5/6/7 throughputs with double speeds enabled by 4X4 MIMO technology, and supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and eMBMS (LTE broadcast) as well as other advanced features.

The Huawei B5328 was already introduced in December 2015, but so far only supplied to very few operators, as most LTE networks currently set to 2 × 2 MIMO antenna technology and the B5328 router has no appreciable advantage in such networks to the predecessor model Huawei E5186 Router. You can buy the B5328 for example in Tunisia with the provider mobilis. Some European network operators have already carried out tests with the Huawei B5328, for example the Czech Vodafone. Vodafone has achieved test with 4 × 4 MIMO antenna technology and Carrier Aggregation around 300 Mbit/s in the downlink.

The Huawei B5328 has no telephone function in the currently available version B5328-155 and has only a single RJ45 Ethernet connection on the back. The WLAN module works only on 2.4 GHz (WiFi 802.11 b/g/n), the exact speed I could not find unfortunately. Basically, the B5328 appears not to be a high-end router in the face of quite meager facilities, while the previous Huawei E5186 LTE CPE had a much greater variety of functions (Wi-Fi 802.11ac and 4x Gigabit Ethernet).

The Huawei B5328 LTE router will also come to the market in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. As we know, the China Mobile will also use this device for the upgraded LTE-Advanced TD-LTE network. From today's point of view, there is not much to be in favor, as network operators rely on 2 × 2 MIMO antenna technology, higher modulation (256QAM) and frequency bundling to increase the speeds in their LTE networks. Currently, the Huawei E5186 is still dominating the market for 2 X 2 MIMO LTE networks.

Four LTE Category 6 Mobile Hotspots to Recommend

LTE networks are becoming the mainstream available in many countries and areas. With LTE technology, users can enjoy high speed surfing, online games or watching videos etc..The good news is that this is not the end. The LTE technologies are also evolved to LTE advanced and it’s said the 5G network is under test now.

Currently, many carriers are trying to upgrade the LTE Category 3 or 4 to the latest advanced Category 6 with carrier aggregation technology (in short: CA). With LTE-advanced technology, the LTE data rate could be improved to double faster than that of the current LTE cat4. Theoretically, the peak download speed could reach 300mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps. Here comes a question, which device could support the LTE Cat6 advanced networks and achieve this speed? Today, we would recommend a few similar mobile WiFi hotspot supporting LTE advanced carrier aggregation technology from vendors.

Huawei E5786

Huawei E5786 should be the first LTE Cat6 mobile WiFi available in the market with Huawei own Hisilicon chipset. It has three branch models: E5786s-32a, E5786s-62a, E5786s-63a. The Huawei E5786s-63a and E5786s-62a are for the network providers in Australia and they had new name “Telstra Wi-Fi 4G Advanced Pro X” and “Optu 4G WiFi modem” respectively. There are white and black colors available. But you can get the unlocked version from for global use. Like its predecessors Huawei E5573 and E5577, the branch models could support different LTE frequency bands for different carriers and areas. Up to 10 wireless users could connect to Huawei E5786 and surf at high speed. There is a LCD screen in the front with power button. The back cover could be removed, but the 3000mAh battery is built-in. The SIM card and Micro SD card slots could be seen when back cover removed. There are two TS-9 connectors for external 4G LTE/3G antenna.

As the world’s first LTE Cat6 mobile 4G router, Huawei E5786 is the best seller in similar gadgets. If you like this mobile hotspot, you’d better to check the network frequency bands and choose the right in the branch models.

Netgear Aircard 790s

Netgear Aircard 790s is the second LTE cat6 mobile router available in the market. Based the predecessor Netgear Aircard 782s, it looks similar to the 782s aircard. Unlike the Huawei E5786, the screen of Aircard 790s is capacitive screen, where user can operate and do simple settings for the mobile hotspot. The power button is on the top side, the bottom side has two connectors for external antenna (TS-9 type). The USB port is also special with 3.0 port, but with the device, Netgear provides the USB 2.0 cable. The back cover could also be removed, so as the battery. The battery capacity is 2930mAh. The SIM card slot could be seen after battery is pulled out. No slot for Micro SD card. With Qualcomm MDM9230 chipset, Aircard 790s could support up to 15 wireless WiFi-enabled devices. With the touchscreen, Netgear Aircard 790s is attractive for many users in practical functions.

Check more specification and details about Netgear Aircard 790s:

Following the steps of the above two vendors, ZTE released the UFi MF970. It looks common like its predecessor MF910. MF970 was already available for Vodafone 4G contract. The front middle is the screen to indicate the connection status. User can do simple settings through the power and menu button. The power and menu button is on the top side. The back cover can’t be removed, so the battery can’t be changed. And there are also two connectors for external LTE/3G antenna. Like Netgear Aircard 790s, there is no slot for Micro SD card. Also with Qualcomm chipset MDM9230, ZTE UFi MF970 could support up to 14 wireless users. The battery is only 2300mAh, which is much lower than the above two similar hotspots. The design of ZTE MF970 looks cool. Other features are very similar to the competitors above.

Check more specification and details about ZTE UFi MF970:

Alcatel One Touch Y900

Alcatel One Touch Y900, also called Alcatel Link Y900 4G+, looks special in the appearance. The signal bars on the front side looks cool but are not really interesting. In all the four LTE cat6 mobile routers, the Y900 is the only which doesn’t have a LCD display. There is only a power button on the body with the WPS button on the other side of the button. The back cover could be removed for changing the battery and inserting SIM card and SD storage card. The big battery is interesting, which has 3600mAh capacity and not only working long time, but also charge other electronics to work like a power bank. What’s amazing, the Alcatel Y900 could support up to 32 wireless users to access internet. In the four devices, Alcatel Y900 seems to be the most powerful mobile hotspot. I personally like this one more.

Check more specification and details about Alcatel One Touch Y900:

The above four LTE cat6 mobile hotspot should be the most popular for LTE advanced networks. You need prefer to the vendor brands, prices, or the functions. We suppose you would choose the right one for the high speed surfing on the go!

Huawei E8377 CarFi VS ZTE VFi MF905

More and more people show great dependence to WiFi, even when they are on the go, especially in a car. The manufacturers in China has notice the demand and provided solution for this. We had introduced Huawei CarFi E8377 many times in the past year. You may get familiar with it. And another Chinese vendor ZTE also provide the similar product ZTE VFi MF905 for the network demand in a car. Here come the questions: What’s the difference between Huawei E8377 and ZTE MF905? Which one is better? In this article, you will find the answer for this.

Appearance ZTE VFi MF905 comes later than Huawei E8377, but the two mobile WiFi hotspots look alike in shape and color. They are both in black color and used for cigarette cradle in a car. There is a USB port in the body, and of course there is a slot for SIM card in the two hotspots. But the SIM card slot in Huawei E8377 is covered by a small cap. The SIM card slot in MF905 is just above the USB port.  On the top side, the logo and LED indicators are shown. The power button is at the center of the top.

Technical Specifications They are both with LTE Category 4 technology, so they can achieve peak download speed to 150mbps and upload speed to 50mbps. The transmission date rates are very good for daily surfing. But whether the surfing speed could be stable when a car is in high speed driving, it still needs time to test.   As a follower, ZTE MF905 could support up to 8 wireless users to access internet while Huawei E8377 supports only 10 users. But in most cases, they are enough to use in a car. There is no official saying about the WiFi coverage distance, but we suppose there is no any problem for the WiFi to cover a whole car.

Control If user want to do some setup in the CarFi, they can connect the tablets, smartphones or PCs with WiFi and log in the web interface to setup. But here now, Huawei and ZTE also provide a new option for users. User can download the apps to setup the two CarFi. For Huawei E8377 CarFi, you may use “Huawei Mobile WiFi” app. And for ZTE MF905, the app name ZTE Link could be used for settings.   Frankly speaking, the two Car WiFi hotspots are very similar. We cannot tell which one is better from the specifications and features. Only the real test would tell which would have more stable and better performance. We will take a test next time in real driving situation to see this result.

If you had read some review before, there is also other solution for the Car WiFi. The model number is Huawei E8372 and Alcatel W800. They are in the shape of USB dongle, not like the E8377 and MF905. But with the cigarette plug, it would be also OK to use in a car. If you want to know more details of them, welcome to check on .

ZTE MF79 4G LTE WiFi Dongle Review

We had introduced 1&1 Mobile WLAN LTE Stick, and today we get the new ZTE MF79 LTE Dongle which is for another carrier ALTEL. On the ZTE MF79 dongle, there is the logo of ALTEL with ZTE 4G. Between them, there are two LED indicators, one for network signal and the other for WiFi.

On the back of the USB Stick, the model number “MF79” is printed and it indicators it’s a LTE USB Modem. There is also CE number 0979 and place of origin “Made in China” with the RoHS.   The front cover with ALTEL logo could be removed, and below the cover, it’s the inner part with model number (MF79), SSID, Password and IMEI number. And of course, there is SIM card slot, the size is for standard SIM card. Beside the SIM card slot, it’s the slot for Micro SD card, where connected users can share files through WiFi. According to the official sayings, the ZTE MF79 could support the SD card maximum to 32GB. But there is no connector for external antenna.

The ZTE MF79 LTE USB Modem looks like a 4G USB dongle, but it can work like a mobile hotspot. Up to 10 WiFi enabled devices could connect to the WiFi from ZTE MF79 and access internet. Supporting LTE Category 4, ZTE MF79 could achieve peak download speed to 150Mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps. Backward with 3G UMTS and 2G GSM networks, the surfing speed could reach 43.2Mbps and upload speed to 5.76Mbps, which is good enough for most cases.

The functions of ZTE MF79 are very similar to the Huawei E8278 and Huawei Wingle E8372. They all look like USB Modem, but have the power to work as a mobile hotspot. Especially due to the small size, user can take them in hand or pocket easily outdoor or for business trip.

The ZTE MF79 is very easy to use. You can connect it to PC or directly to the power adapter which has USB plug port. Only if there is power supply, it can work as a WiFi hotspot. So the ZTE MF79 could work as a wireless router in a car if connecting to a USB plug in the car. In this case, it would be a good network solution for a car.

After connected with the ZTE MF79 WiFi, you can setup the USB Dongle through Web UI. The address is and the default password is admin to log in. User can setup for the language, connection, WiFi, and WPS. In most cases, the setup is unnecessary. It’s just plug and play. The connected user quantity is also showed in the web UI. The ZTE MF79 can also calculate the statistic for the data consumption. The SMS can also be read from the dongle.

ZTE MF79 SIM card slot

In summary, the ZTE MF79 is a good and smart mobile USB WiFi dongle for daily use at home or on the go. Supporting high speed surfing, ZTE MF79 can also share the internet with multiple users. And no setup and plug & play features makes it very friendly to users. It’s a great partner for network access!

Netgear Aircard 810s VS Aircard 815s

Looking at the current available 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot, Netgear seems lead the LTE Advanced terminals. If you had known Huawei E5786 mobile WiFi, you may think this is the fastest 4G pocket router. However, if you know the two 4G mobile routers which we would introduce today, you may have a new view for the mobile terminals.

Since LTE Cat3 and Cat4 are becoming the mainstream for carriers, LTE-advanced would of course be available in near future. Here we can see some carriers are stepping fast. The carrier AT&T in USA and Telstra in Australia had presented the LTE Advanced networks for commercial use. The aforementioned Huawei E5786 is a LTE cat6 mobile router, which is already available for many network providers. AT&T and Telstra already used the LTE Cat9 and Cat11 terminals, which mean the LTE Cat9 and Cat11 technologies are available for the two carriers.

AT&T introduced Netgear Aircard 815s and had a new name “AT&T Unite Explore” while Telstra introduced Netgear Aircard 810s and has a new name of “Telstra WiFi 4GX Advanced III”. The two 4G mobile hotspots very similar in the name but feature differently. Today, we will have what’s the difference between them.   Appearance The Netgear Aircard 810s follows the design of the predecessor Aircard 790s, which is a same level mobile router to Huawei E5786 supporting LTE Cat6. The body of Aircard 810s is made of plastic but feels good. With a 2.4 inch LCD screen, user can read the connection status and setup the routers on the screen.

The Netgear Aircard 815s also has a 2.4inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen like Aircard 810s. So the screen has same functions to Netgear AC810S for settings. There special feature of Aircard 815s which should mention is the rugged design that is dustproof, shock and water-resistant. This feature allows users to take the Aircard 815s not only for common outdoor activities, but also in severse weather, especially for the wilderness exploration. They both have two connectors for external antenna and socket type is TS-9. Between the two connectors, there is a USB 3.0 port.

  Technical Specifications

Below the blank shows the details specifications of the two routers:

Product Netgear Aircard 815s (Telstra WiFi 4GX Advanced III) Netgear Aircard 810s (AT&T Unite Explore)
LTE Technology LTE Cat9 + 2 x Carrier Aggregation LTE Cat9 + Cat11 + 3-band Carrier Aggregation
LTE Bands Band 2/ 4 / 5 / 12 / 17 / 29 / 30 Band 1/3/7/8/28

WiFi 802.11b/g/n/ac, 2x2 MIMO 802.11b/g/n/ac, 2x2 MIMO
Antenna Two external antenna connectors(TS-9) Two external antenna connectors(TS-9)
Battery 4340 mAh 2930 mAh
Screen 2.4”QVGA capacitive touchscreen 2.4”QVGA capacitive touchscreen

Actually, we had not tested the two units at same network environment in practice. But we will do that respectively in near future and will provide full test report for the two mobile hotspots. We hope the report would be a good reference for the potential users who need the 4G mobile routers. There is one function that we have to mention: The Aircard 815s and 810s can both work like a mobile power bank, which is called Battery Boost, they can charge other electronics such as smartphones and tablets. This function is practical and useful in most cases.

From the appearance and specifications, we can see the two mobile routers (Aircard 815s and 810s) are with the latest technology and dominate the wireless terminals. Netgear Aircard 810s supports higher level network technology and it should be the fastest 4G mobile router. Of course, the price is also not cheap for the Aircard 810s, so as Aircard 815s. But if you would like a budget mobile pocket 4G router, the Netgear Aircard 790s may be a good option for you.

Huawei E5771 Mobile WiFi Plus Review

You may have known Huawei mobile WiFi Pro E5770, which has a large battery capacity and could reach peak download speed to 150mbps. And up to 11 devices could connect o Huawei E5770 simultaneously through WiFi. Here now, there is a brother model Huawei E5771 available, which is also called “Huawei Mobile WiFi Plus”.

As a new 4G mobile Router, Huawei E5771 is similar to Huawei E5770 in the technical specifications. It’s a LTE Category 4 mobile hotspot which could achieve peak download speed to 150mbps and upload speed to 50mbps. Unlike Huawei E5770, there is no LED screen on the front, only Huawei logo and the power button on the front. The touch feel of the body is good. On the back, the number indicates 9600mAh battery capacity, which is almost double of the E5770 battery capacity.

On the edge at the power button side, there are USB In & Out ports for 5V/2A. The USB out port is to charge other electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets etc while the In port is for power charging for the Huawei E5771 itself. At the top side edge, there are 5 small indicators, one for data transfer and the rest four for power status. The total design of Huawei E5771 is very simple and classic. I personally like it!

The large battery is built-in the Huawei E5771 WiFi plus, user can open the back cover from the groove at the left side corner. On the inner body, we can see more information about the device, such model number, power output and input, IMEI & S/N number, battery capacity, WLAN network (SSID) name and password, admin IP address and password. There is also a QR code which can be scanned and connect to the device through smartphones. It’s also showed the Huawei Technologies Limited and Made in China.

The button has a “Hi” word, which is also a LED indicator. It indicates different network status by colors. In Green, it means network signal is very good, but in yellow, it means weak signal. If in red, there is no network service available, and if in blue, it means the device connect the network via WLAN.

There is a SIM card slot and Micro SD card slot available in the Huawei E5771 Mobile WiFi Plus. The E5771 MiFi uses Micro SIM card. Users can connect to the device and share the files and documents in the SD card. The Reset button is also available beside the two slots. Users can reset the Huawei E5771 to factory default by pressing the button.

With the Huawei E5771, the manufacturer also provides the USB cable and power adapter. The design of the USB cable is interesting, it can be folded and be the sling for Huawei E5771.

In summary, the Huawei E5771 has two advantages than other similar 4G mobile WiFi hotspots:

  1. Large battery capacity of 9600mAh, which can keep working for long time and charge other electronic devices as a power bank
  2. It can be used in around 30 countries/areas without any limit for high speed network connection

It’s a practical mobile router for global use. But the mainstream of the mobile hotspots is with touch screen, where user can operate or setup the router via screen. It’s a pity Huawei E5771 doesn’t have this feature. If you prefer a mobile router with touch screen, you may check the Huawei E5787 LTE Cat6 mobile hotspot. Anyhow, Huawei E5771 is still a very good 4G pocket router and highly recommended!

Huawei Present Mate 9 New Smartphone With Leica Dual Camera

Huawei presented the new smartphone Huawei Mate 9 a few days ago, with a huge 5.9 inch display and a dual camera, developed with Leica. As the successor of the Huawei Mate 8, Huawei Mate 9 follows the design of Mate 8 and no big change. Technically speaking, Huawei is using state-of-the-art technology, so the new HiSilicon Kirin 960 Octa-Core processor is used. The modem allows speeds of up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink based on LTE category 12. Highlight is the camera with two sensors and hybrid zoom. In addition, a Porsche Design Edition of the Huawei Mate 9 with Curved AMOLED Display was presented. huawei-mate-9-2 Metal body with 2.5D glass The Huawei Mate 9 has a metal body and is offered in the colors Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, Ceramic White and Black. Above and below, a thin plastic strip is visible instead of metal in order to optimize the performance of the mobile radio antennas. The glass above the display is rounded to the sides, which is also called 2.5D glass. The display is 5.9 inches in size and provides a full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). Compared to the competition, display resolution is somewhat lower but come to the battery, the runtime to good.   huawei-mate-9-7 Android 7 and EMUI 5 Before we take a closer look at the hardware of the Huawei Mate 9, we have a few words about the software. Huawei delivers the Mate 9 with the latest version of Android 7, along with the well-known Huawei EMUI user interface, which, in addition to a different design compared to original Android, offers significantly more functions. On the Mate 9, EMUI version 5 is being used for the first time, which has been improved compared to the current version 4.1 and is to be more efficient and even easier to use. huawei-mate-9-6 Leica Dual Camera Like the Huawei P9, the Huawei Mate 9  comes thus with a dual camera that was developed in cooperation with Leica. This time, however, this is the second generation of the technology, which is equipped with a hybrid zoom. The backside main camera has two sensors installed: a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor and a 12 megapixel color sensor. For fast focusing, a hybrid autofocus and an optical image stabilizer to prevent blurred pictures. Videos can record in 4K resolution through the back camera, and the LED flash is two-color. The front camera of the Huawei Mate 9 has a resolution of up to 8 megapixels and also has an autofocus. huawei-mate-9-5 Fast processor and LTE Cat12 The Mate 9 is the first Huawei smartphone to be with the new HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset. The SoC is the first with ARM Cortex A73 processor architecture and Mali G71 graphics core and is to score at a very good performance in comparison to the competition from Apple, Qualcomm and Mediatek. The processor offers four cores each with a maximum of 2.4 GHz clock rate for high-performance applications and an additional 4x 1.8 GHz cores for energy-saving work. The working memory is 4 gigabytes in size for the Mate 9. huawei-mate-9-1 The radio modules are also equipped with the latest technology. In addition to Bluetooth 4.2, the Mate 9 also supports NFC and WLAN 802.11ac on 2.4 and 5 Gigahertz. The LTE modem of the Huawei Mate 9 operates at speeds of up to 600 Mbps in the downlink, while the following LTE frequency ranges are supported for worldwide use: * FDD LTE band 1 / B2 / B3 / B4 / B5 / B7 / B18 / B19 / B12 / B26 / B28 / B29 * TDD LTE band 38 / B39 / B40 / B41   Dual SIM version available Huawei will offer the Mate 9 in a single SIM version and a dual SIM version. Both versions come with 64 gigabytes of internal memory and can be extended by MicroSD memory card by up to 2 terabytes, the dual SIM version allows, however, the use of a second Nano-SIM card instead of the MicroSD memory card. The dual SIM version is a so-called hybrid slot, which does not allow the simultaneous use of MicroSD and two SIM cards. huawei-mate-9-3 Exclusive: Porsche Design Version In addition to the "normal" Mate 9, Huawei also introduced a Porsche Design Edition. This is not only twice as expensive, but also offers a different design and other technology. Thus, a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with qHD resolution is used, which is rounded at the sides - just as you would know from the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. The memory is also 6GB slightly larger than the normal Mate 9 and there is a separate hardware home button, which is displayed only by software in the display in the normal device. The Porsche Design Edition will remain exclusive due to the extremely high price and sales exclusively through Porsche Design Stores. huawei-mate-9-4 Prices and availability The Huawei Mate 9 is now available in online store. We offer the dual SIM version. In addition to the usual accessories such as charging adapters and headphones, you will also find a protective cover. The Huawei Mate 9 in the Porsche Design Edition will be sold from the end of December 2016 in Porsche Design Stores.
